Founder’s Message
Lisa’s journey to creating The R.A.W.R. Foundation: A commitment to safer, more inclusive event experiences.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
Hi, I’m Lisa Viles, founder of The R.A.W.R. Foundation.
R.A.W.R. stands for Resilience, Awareness, Wellness, and Relationships, values that were not simply created as part of an idea, but built through real-life experiences, personal struggles, loss, healing, and survival.
The RAWR Foundation was created to become a safe, supportive, and community-driven movement for teenagers, young adults, families, artists, and individuals navigating mental health struggles, trauma, grief, addiction, isolation, emotional overwhelm, and life’s hardest seasons. Our mission is to create emotionally safe and creatively empowering spaces where people feel seen, heard, supported, and connected without judgment or shame.
Within a short period of time, I experienced profound loss, emotional trauma, personal and mental health challenges, and responsibilities I didn’t feel prepared to carry. Like many people, I learned how to keep functioning while silently falling apart. On the outside, I looked okay. On the inside, I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and trying to survive while pretending everything was fine.
My breaking point eventually became my turning point.
In one of the lowest moments of my life, I realized something I could no longer ignore: healing does not happen in isolation, and too many people are struggling silently without spaces where they feel safe enough to be honest about what they are carrying.
That realization became the foundation for everything we are building through RAWR.
This movement was created to bridge the gap between traditional support systems and the people who often feel disconnected from them. We believe support can look different.
Sometimes it’s music. Sometimes it’s art. Sometimes it’s a conversation, a community event, a creative outlet, a moment to breathe, or simply someone taking the time to say, “I see you.”
We meet people where they are, through community outreach, music, creativity, wellness initiatives, youth engagement, alternative culture, peer connection, and authentic human relationships. Because real healing often begins with feeling understood, not judged.
I don’t believe people are broken.
I believe people are human.
And no one should have to navigate their hardest moments alone.
I don’t believe in shame.
I believe in awareness.
I don’t believe in control.
I believe in connection, community, and compassion.
What I lived through could have destroyed me.
And honestly, there were moments it almost did.
Instead, it became my purpose.
The purpose behind The RAWR Foundation is simple:
to create spaces where people feel safe, supported, empowered, connected, and reminded that they are not alone, especially in the moments that matter most.
With love and purpose,
Lisa Viles
